Richard Bland College of The College of William and Mary in Virginia was founded in 1960. It is the Junior College of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The College offers a traditional curriculum in the liberal arts and sciences leading to the associate degree and other programs appropriate to a junior college. The curriculum is intended to allow students to acquire junior status after transferring to a four-year college or to pursue expanded career opportunities. The College also recognizes its responsibility to serve the public by providing educational and cultural opportunities for the community at large.

As the only public two-year institution in Virginia that offers on-campus living facilities, RBC is the perfect choice for students looking for the full collegiate experience but at the significantly reduced cost of a junior college. Unlike community colleges, which offer both academic and vocational courses of study, all of the curricular programs at RBC are designed to prepare students to transfer into a four-year college.

The academic rigor with which we approach the education of our students ensures that upon entering a four-year institution, RBC graduates will have developed the same scholastic skills and have the same academic standing as the rest of their junior class. And, by providing students with the opportunity to live on campus, we also ensure that our students can develop the social and life skills that the residential experience cultivates. In so doing, we make sure that our students are fully prepared to excel during every phase of their collegiate journey, both during and after their time at RBC.

College is more than going to class and getting a degree. It·s about preparing for your future, discovering who you are and developing life-long friendships. Student Life at RBC is an experience that will help you do all of that and much more. We offer many activities that allow students to engage in campus life and get involved in the RBC community. Intramural sports, international travel, theater and community service are just a few of the RBC activities that can enhance student life. Whether you are wanting to pick up a new activity or find new friends with similar interests, RBC has what you are looking for.
